Senior pastor Brooks Kimmey

Brooks Kimmey became senior pastor of FBC Vernon in October 2020. He attended Temple College where he played baseball and obtained his Associates of Arts. He then went on to Baylor University where he continued playing baseball and earned his B.S. in Education, Health Science Studies. He attended Dallas Theological Seminary where he obtained his Masters in Historical Theology. 

He is married to his wife Katy, and they have four children: Deacon, Lincoln, Shepherd, and Annie Grace. 


Greg Tanner, our associate pastor of worship has been at FBC Vernon since 1984. Greg and his wife, Nina, have one daughter, Bobbi Kim, who lives in Oklahoma with her family. Originally from Illinois, Greg graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, TN with a Bachelor of Arts in church music and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Church Music.

His favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5,6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."


Nate joined the staff at FBC Vernon in September 2017. He has a passion for seeing families transformed by the Spirit of God at work in the Word of God. 

Nate has been married to his wife Jamie for a little over two years now, and they are expecting their first child soon!  

Nate obtained his B.A. in Pastoral Ministry from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2016. He was ordained by FBC Wichita Falls that same year. He is currently working towards his M.Div in Christian Education from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. 


Sandra has worked at FBC for 20 years! She is very loved and appreciated for all of her hard work, we actually call her the "glue" that sticks it all together. She was born and raised in Vernon her whole life. She has been married to Henry Goodrum for 40 years and is blessed to have two beautiful daughters, Stephanie and Melanie and four precious grandchildren, Quentin, Kyla, Ryson, and Rylen. Her hobbies include reading, bowling, and spending time with her grand kids. Her favorite Scripture is Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I Am God".

Pastoral care minister mike klappenbach

Mike Klappenbach has been serving as our Pastor Care Minister since May 1, 2019 and is responsible for ministering to our senior adult community. Mike earned a B.B.A degree in 1975 and Master of Science degree in finance in 1976 from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He and his wife, Rhonda, both natives of Vernon, have been married for 46 years and have 2 children and 6 grandchildren. Mike and Rhonda have been members of FBC Vernon since September of 1979. Mike retired from commercial radio in February of 2019, after 40 years as owner/operator of twin stations. He is an active deacon of FBC, ordained in 1982, and has served in several leadership areas of our church. For over 30 years he and Rhonda led our young marrieds in Bible study. Mike has a passion for evangelism and loves to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
